Ken Cedar has accumulated an impressive collection of credentials
as a songwriter/music producer/programmer/audio engineer. Ken was born
in Detroit, MI. Humming along to the vibrations coming from a vacuum
cleaner while in his crib, it was apparent he would become a musician.
He started out playing rock guitar but his musical path was circuitous
and the influences eclectic. Performing across the country. Delving
extensively into jazz theory and performance. But never forgetting his
Detroit Pop, R&B, and Rock influences either.
Then Ken’s varied musical experiences and tastes were
fully explored at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He received
extensive training in performance, arranging, audio engineering, production
and synth programming.
After his education at Berklee, Ken moved to New York City
where he took a job as assistant engineer at a beautiful “24-track”
studio with a great drum room. He learned from the best in the best
way possible—in the heat of battle.
In the midst of that, Ken was beginning his songwriting career.
His first cut, ELECTRIC LADY by ConFunkShun, went to #4 on the Billboard
R&B Singles Chart. Since then he has written and produced songs
for numerous artists including Sweet Sensation, Shannon, Regina, Judy
Torres and Carol Lynn Townes.
On many major label cuts and jingles Ken has also vocal produced,
programmed, arranged, and engineered. He vocal produced the Tamperer
hit dance album entitled FABULOUS, programmed and engineered on a number
of Angel Moraes dance hits, and more. He has worked on a wide variety
of major jingles including the popular VH1 “Pop Up Video”
theme.
